The Great Race
The Great Race is an antique, vintage, and collector car competitive controlled-speed endurance road rally on public highways. It is a test of a driver/navigator team’s ability to follow precise course instructions and the car’s (and team’s) ability to endure a cross-country competition.
The Great Race X-Cup Division
High school and college age student teams, in cars 1974 or older are eligible to enter the X-Cup competition. The Great Race X-Cup Division was created specifically to provide young automotive enthusiasts the opportunity to pilot their Team’s vintage car in the annual competition on a 2,000+ mile course across the US. The Scott Henderson X-Cup Scholarship was created to assist students who have competed in the X-Cup Division, and are commencing or continuing their automotive-related studies at any US accredited college, trade school, or other higher educational institution. Support is also provided to these young teams with $1000 Grants to help cover their necessary expenses during the competition. Funding is also provided to the automotive program of an X-Cup Team’s institution, selected by their peers as the “Team Choice” recipient.
